Advice guide
When should misted double glazing be replaced?
Misted glass, draughts, condensation, failed seals, and stiff openers are signs that a unit or full frame may need attention.
Misting usually means the sealed unit has failed
Condensation between panes normally means the sealed glass unit has broken down. In some cases the glass can be replaced without replacing the whole frame.
Frame condition matters too
If the window is draughty, hard to lock, distorted, poorly sealed, or visibly tired, a full replacement may be more sensible than changing the glass alone.
Photos help start the conversation
Clear photos of the inside, outside, handles, hinges, and affected glass can help identify whether repair, glass replacement, or a new unit is likely.
Quick checklist
What to confirm before you order.
Every property and opening is different, so use this as a starting point before a measured survey and final specification.
- Look for misting between panes rather than room-side condensation
- Check handles, hinges, gaskets, locks, and drainage
- Use the free health check for an initial visual report
- Ask for survey advice before committing to repair or replacement
