Advice guide

Anthracite grey or black windows? A practical colour guide

Dark window colours can look sharp, but brickwork, doors, roofline, interiors, heat exposure, and long-term maintenance should guide the choice.

Look at the whole elevation

Anthracite grey, black, and other dark finishes should be compared against brick, render, roofline, fascia, gutters, garage doors, front doors, and neighbouring properties. A colour that looks good on one elevation can feel too heavy on another.

Interior colour matters too

A dark external frame can be paired with a different internal finish depending on system options. White inside can keep rooms brighter, while matching internal dark frames can suit extensions or modern interiors.

Material and exposure affect the decision

uPVC foils and powder-coated aluminium have different finish routes. South-facing elevations, large glass areas, and strong design requirements should be discussed before the colour is confirmed.

Quick checklist

What to confirm before you order.

Every property and opening is different, so use this as a starting point before a measured survey and final specification.

  • Compare samples outside against brickwork and in natural light
  • Decide whether the inside should be white, matching, or contrasting
  • Coordinate windows with doors, fascias, gutters, and garage doors
  • Ask about lead times and finish care for the chosen material
